Negros Oriental Gov. Roel Degamo yesterday said he will review the 2014 annual budget of almost P2-billion and will veto items in it if needed.

Unverified reports said that some items originally included in the proposed budget forwarded to the Sangguniang Panlalawigan for approval, were either revised, modified or dropped.

Degamo said he has not received yet a copy of the 2014 budget that was approved by the SP before the holiday break.

He said he was informed that some items were altered or removed, like the Peace and Order Council allocation, although the intelligence fund for the governor was not changed.

He said the POC budget had gone through the process and its projects identified, before this was endorsed to the SP for approval.

The 2014 provincial government budget amounts to P1,911,813,171.

Degamo said he hopes the SP will give him a copy of the budget next week for review before its approval.*JFP
