Negros Oriental Governor Roel Ragay Degamo turned over the initial 10 heads of cattle to the identified members of the Dagbasan Responsible Resource Livelihood Development Orgnaization of Barangay Dagbasan, Mabinay early this week.

The turn over ceremony was attended by the barangay officials of Dagbasan and the representatives from the Provincial Veterinary Office and the Department of Agriculture.

The 10 heads of cattle are the initial livestock afforded to the province of Negros Oriental from the Department of Agriculture under the Livestock Productivity Enhancement Project of the agency.

Governor Degamo thanked the Department of Agriculture for the livestock enhancement project as this is very much in consonance with one of the priority areas of his administration under his banner program dubbed as the Sa Probinsya—MagDEGAMO Ta! with Health, Education and Livelihood programs and other Projects as its centrepiece program.

He said this will definitely boost the animal dispersal program of the provincial government which is aimed at providing farmers with more opportunities to improve their income.

Earlier, the provincial government allocated some 500 thousand pesos for the production of native animals such as cows, goats, chickens and pigs to be dispersed to identify farmer beneficiaries all over the province.

The provincial government is very serious to provide livelihood opportunities to the farmers in order for them to uplift their quality of life.

The governor added this is what the people need especially those farmers in the hinterlands.

He said the provincial government will continue to forge partnerships with national government agencies and various sectors to bring developments to the countryside especially at this time when the province is categorized officially as a conflict manageable and development ready province.

As he earlier stated, the province now faces a greater challenge of sustaining its present status.

The local government units must pursue peace initiatives through government programs and projects in order to solve the insurgency problem in the province.

Meanwhile, the Department of Agriculture announced that more animals such as carabaos, cows, goats and chickens will also be distributed to the farmer beneficiaries of Guihulngan City next week.
