The Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Negros Oriental allotted more than P28 million for the Productivity Enhancement Incentive of Capitol employees as reward for exceeding agency financial and operational performance targets.

The PEI is provided for in Executive Order 181, signed by President Benigno Aquino III, dated May 25 this year. Section 1 of the order states the one-time grant of the PEI which is equivalent to either P5,000 across the board, or one month basic salary of a government employee.

The SP appropriated P28 million for the grant of what was described by employees as their 14th month pay, Provincial Administrator Richard Enojo said.

He said the release of the one month bonus for Capitol employees is timely, with the opening of classes this month.

Enojo said excluded in the PEI are individuals hired by government without employer-employee relationship, and are paid from non-personnel services appropriations, such as consultants and experts hired to perform specific activities or services with expected outputs, laborers hired through job contracts, and those paid on piecework basis, such as student laborers and apprentices, and individuals and groups whose services are engaged through job orders, contracts of services, and others similarly situated.*JG
