Cultural shows, talent competitions, and various merrymaking events have been calendared to celebrate Christmas 2015 in Negros Oriental from December 13, 2015 to January 6, 2016, Governor Roel R. Degamo said.
The province wide celebration reels off on December 13 with DepEd’s Grand Christmas parade that will rouse Dumaguete City’s main thoroughfares dubbed, “Mga Sugilanon sa Negros Oriental” that will lead residents to the Freedom Park where DepEd Divisions will mount Disney – themed landscaping displays, lighted Christmas decor will be switched on, and free ice cream for children of all ages. It will be followed by the annual Sayawit and Parol competitions where the finest choreographed choirs and the best Christmas lanterns from the six (6) DepEd Divisions will vie for championship honors and prizes.
The carnival rides in the Freedom Park will be set-up after the opening, Gov. Degamo said.
Gov. Degamo added that the celebration continues in the succeeding nights when the different private schools and DepEd divisions will stage cultural shows and other performances including the Sidlakan Star Season 5 talent competition. Aspiring entries to the contest on December 25-30 are invited to contact the Provincial Tourism Unit for details on how to join.
