NEGROS ORIENTAL, May 27 (PIA) – The Negros Oriental Provincial Police Office (NOPPO) has intensified its intelligence operations following the reported shifting of rebel group activities in the province.

“Reports coming from very reliable source stated that the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army-National Democratic Front (CPP-NPA-NDF) will shift its offensive attacks on selected targets in the province particularly the Bayanihan Centers and municipal police stations,” said Acting Provincial Director Police Sr. Supt. Harris Fama.

Fama together with PSupt. Elmer Decena, company commander of Provincial Public Safety Company, visited yesterday selected police stations in southern part of the province including Dumaguete City to inspect and assess the capability of the police force.

Fama said all chiefs of police have been directed to conduct random checkpoints to prevent and obstruct entry of suspicious persons in their respective areas of immediate concern.

Negros Oriental Provincial Police Office (NOPPO) Information officer SPO1 Edilberto Barabas Euraoba III said part of the operation includes information dissemination to different communities informing them the plans of revolutionary movement.

Moreover,  Euraoba said simulation exercises on the camp defense plans were checked with the supervision of umpires who acted as critiques during the actual implementation of the event.

Fama reminded the different sectors of the community to be vigilant and report immediately any suspicious activities they notice and monitor.

“Progress and development will be hampered if people will not participate in suppressing criminal activities and atrocities,” the police director said. (rmn/jct/PIA7-Negros Oriental)
