NEGROS ORIENTAL, May 23 (PIA) – The Diocese of Dumaguete together with the Commission on Mass Media and Social Communication (CMMSC) celebrated recently the 50th World Communication Day with more than 50 student leaders in the provinces of Negros Oriental and Siquijor.

The activity highlighted the reading of the message of Pope Francis on “Communication with mercy” by a member of CMMSC, Angela Kristine Ocao.

 

His Holiness spoke about the need to communicate with mercy, no matter the medium.

 

“Our most targets were to have more Parish Media Advocates (PMAs) and Online Missionaries of God (OMGs),” said Fr. Ramonito Maata, chairman of CMMSC.

 

Fr. Maata said they aim to recruit more members specifically youth in every parishes in in the two provinces to be part of the PMAers and OMG to promote Media Communication.

 

“We are hoping for more participants to join and participate in events like this,” he said. 

 

Participants came from different schools and parishes such as St. Louis, St. Philip, St. Thomas, Colegio de Santa Catalina de Alejandria (COSCA), Negros Oriental State University (NORSU) Main Campus, NORSU-Bayawan State College, Infant King Academy, and the Immaculate Concepcion.
