The Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) fever will once again engulf Negros Oriental as two of the frontrunner teams in the current Governor’s Cup will face each other on the evening of June 23 at the Congressman Lamberto Macias Sports and Cultural Center.
The Rain or Shine Elasto Painters, which as of press times totes a win-loss record of 6-1, will play against the Petron Blaze itself with a 4-3 mark.
Negros Oriental Governor Roel Ragay Degamo extended his thanks to the PBA for scheduling one out of town game in Dumaguete City thereby also giving the Province an opportunity to showcase its state of the art facilities and for the Negrenses to watch the game live.
“As you all know, the provincial government implemented various renovations in the sports center such as the new flooring and roofing. In fact, the new flooring of the basketball court is the same with the flooring of the basketball courts in the NBA.” the governor said.
Gov. Degamo is very happy with the scheduled game because these teams happen to be on top of the team standings.
He said the Provincial government is very much ready to host big sporting events such as the PBA anytime.
He added it is all systems go for this rare opportunity for the province to be showcased again on national television through the PBA.
