The Search for  2017 “Babayeng Garbo sa Katilingban”  and  “Grupong Garbo sa Katilingban  is on.”

The Babayeng Garbo and Grupong Garbo annual search is conducted by the ProvincialCommission on  Women  to honor outstanding woman individual  and women’s groups  working for women empowerment and gender equality.   

The Search was launched during the Women’s Month celebration last March. The Babayeng Garbo  carries a Grand Prize of P25,000 while the Grupong Garbo will receive P50,000.  Deadline for submission of nominations is July 15, 2017.

Nomination forms may be obtained at the Office of the Philippine Information Agency (Tel. No. 422-8062; 225-1388) or the GAD Resource and Coordinating Center, Mezzanine, Office of the Governor (225-1111 loc. 209)

The Search is open to all woman individuals and organizations working or doing development work  that contributed  to the empowerment of rural women and the promotion of gender equality in any of the following fields:  agriculture, fishery, home management, environmental protection, child care, livelihood, social services and health.

For the Babayeng Garbo Award, the nominee must have no pending case in any court of law.  She must be involved in community work for at least two (2) years. For the Grupong Garbo, the organization must submit a Certification from the Barangay Captain, Municipal Mayor or Municipal Social Welfare Officer recognizing its existence.

For both categories,, nominations must be officially endorsed by any of the following: Barangay Captain, Municipal Mayor, legitimate socio-civic or religious organization.(Gender Resource and Coordinating Center)
