The Court of Appeals Special 5th Division ruled that the dismissal of Negros Oriental Gov. Roel Degamo would ruin his reputation as individual and as a public official, and deprive his right to assume his post as the newly elected governor.

DUMAGUETE CITY -– Negros Oriental Governor Roel Degamo has obtained a temporary restraining order (TRO) from the Court of Appeals to prevent the execution of the dismissal order the Ombudsman had issued against him.

MANILA, Philippines – Negros Oriental Gov. Roel Degamo has secured a 60-day temporary restraining order (TRO) against the implementation of a ruling of the Office of the Ombudsman dismissing him from office.

An elated Gov. Roel Degamo last night told his supporters holding vigil at the Capitol in Dumaguete City that he has secured a temporary restraining order from the Court of Appeals against the dismissal resolution of the Office of the Ombudsman.

Beleaguered Negros Oriental Gov. Roel Degamo remained holed up in his Provincial Capitol Office yesterday, after representatives from the Department of Interior and Local Government Negros Island Region Friday served a writ of execution from the Ombudsman to dismiss him for alleged malversation of public funds.

Hundreds of people from different walks of life in Negros Oriental trooped to the Capitol yesterday morning to throw their support to re-elected Gov. Roel Degamo, following a radio announcement that he was no longer the province’s chief executive.

Gov. Roel Degamo remained adamant and refused to leave the Capitol last night even as Vice Governor Edward Mark Macias already took his oath as governor past 5 p.m. yesterday, before Regional Trial Court Executive Judge Gerardo Paguio Jr.

Negros Oriental Gov. Roel Degamo said he cannot “intelligently reply” to what was posted on social media about his impending dismissal reportedly following the Ombudsman’s denial of his motion for reconsideration of the first joint resolution, due to lack of merit.
