Negros Oriental’s Buglasan Festival 2012 presents 87 events

This year’s Negros Oriental Buglasan Festival of Festivals will have three venues for the 87 events calendared on a two-week celebration in October.  Negros Oriental Tourism Council (NOTC) Chair Nick Elman said the main events will be spread out at Freedom Park, Sidlakang Negros Village and Rizal Boulevard to decongest the huge crowd.

Families in Siaton evacuated

About 25 families residing at the riverbanks of Siaton and Canaway in Siaton town, Negros Oriental, were evacuated Monday night because of flashfloods caused by torrential rains. Angelo Tiongson of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said the families were evacuated when the rivers overflowed and their houses were flooded.

25 families temporarily evacuated due to flooding in Siaton

A total of 25 families living along Canaway River in Brgy. 3, Siaton town were evacuated last night due to flooding.  The local government of Siaton evacuated the families after the river’s water level rose and overflowed due to the rains brought by Typhoon Lawin, Capitol Information Officer Adrian Sedillo said. 

Degamo insists on P350M loan

Negros Oriental Gov. Roel Degamo said the proposed resolution of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, seeking to withdraw the earlier authority it gave him to apply for a P350 million loan with the Development Bank of the Philippines, is irregular.

New school building to be built at Guihulngan National High School

The provincial government here led the construction of a one-unit, two-classroom school building at the Gihulngan National High School in Guihulngan City.  The school building is worth P1.4 million with the funds taken from the provincial government’s Special Education Fund, said Capitol Information Officer Adrian Sedillo.
